Thank You For.....

This is how Joel spent Thanksgiving weekend. Literally, at his desk, all day, every day, writing a paper on (yawn) 4th century Monasticism. But he enjoyed it.

Thanksgiving weekend away from family makes the 700 miles, 12-15 hour drive through the night seem attractive. The days of travel are always worth seeing family. We missed all of you in PA this weekend!

A few things we are thankful for:

1. HEAT--last year we lived in an old, uninsulated building with high ceilings and big windows. We did all kinds of stupid things to keep our cost down. At one point we shut the vents and closed off a section of our home. It got below 30 degrees in our living room. We actually froze a glass of water. Now we are warm & thankful for a new house.

2. KITTY--We love kitty's playful personality and she loves waking us up for Saturday morning breakfast at 6am.

3. BOOKS-- We are very thankful for all the books we own and have access to. Many seminaries in other parts of the world have less books than we own.

5. EACH OTHER--we couldn't ask for a better best friend. There is nothing like having a lifelong partner in everything we do. Whether it is working at church, nannying, studying, grocery shopping, reading, or cooking we always include each other in our lives. Even when life is over-scheduled and over-stressed, our first priority after God is each other. And at the end of the day, nothing beats relaxing on the couch and talking about everything that is going on in life.
