Marathon Training

We are starting week 10 of 17 in our marathon training.

Marathon training forces us to set goals. Honestly, it has been harder than we anticipated, but we love reaching goals set before us.

Marathon training forces us to rearrange our schedule to run. You can't just wake up a half hour early for a 14 mile run. You need to schedule hours into your weeks dedicated to running. Our new evening schedule involves runs at 7pm, dinner at 9, bedtime at 10 pm--sounds fun, right?

A few marathon training facts:
  • We will train 434 miles in 17 weeks to prepare for the 26.2 mile race
  • Our longest run will be 20 miles 3 weeks before the marathon race
  • This Friday we have a 15 mile run planned.
Marathon training has...
  • made us hungry ALL THE TIME! I now eat double what I use to eat!
  • made us feel pains we never felt before (stomach cramps, knee pain, muscle pain)
  • given us great respect for anyone who has ever run 26.2 miles
