As much as I love Pottery Barn, sometimes I'm happy our budget doesn't allow me to shop there. Honestly, the adventure of redoing a thrift store find is incredibly fun for me! Below are a few pictures of a few projects I've been working on for our kitchen.
Project 1: An old, ugly picture frame

To a new dry erase board

The frame was just a few dollars at a thrift store. I tore it apart, spray painted it black and used a hot glue gun to glue the fabric to the cardboard. Cost of fabric: less than $1.50 at Jo-Ann's! Total cost of project: $5 including paint.
Project 2: Wine Racks

I really wish I had pictures of the before, cuz these guys were a bit rusty looking. I was so eager to spray paint them that I forgot to take a picture! I was eager, really eager, so eager i spray painted these guys in the dark!
Joel & I found one of these racks for $3 at Good Will about a month ago. They retail for $10/each at Ikea. I really wanted 2 more and was almost ready to drive to Ikea & pay full price, but decided to stop in at our local thrift store first....underneath a pile of crap I couldn't believe what I saw...2 more wine racks for $3 each!! They were silver and dirty and a little gross looking. I'm learning, spray paint fixes everything!!!

Retail price: $36...I paid $12 including paint.
Project 3: Vintage Sign
I'm seeing these sign's everywhere & decided to take a stab at making one. I'm really not happy with the way it turned out, but I had fun doing it and the project really only cost me a couple of bucks.
Took this sign:

And turned it into this:

I'd never be able to buy a sign with our last name on it in the store.
Now to fill the rest of the space on top of the kitchen cabinets....

On the dry erase board.... is the glass part of the frame used to mark on? That's a neat idea.
