In an attempt to let you know that I'm still here in blog land, I'm digging out one of those old, unfinished drafts from months ago! I've spent the night organizing files and pictures on my computer and am pretty sure I have 20 posts just waiting to be published (including that nursery reveal coming soon!) Until then, go ahead and waste a few minutes of your life reading about a few things we don't spend our money on:
1. Shampoo, Body wash, Conditioner, toothpaste, floss, and deodorant (thank you CVS!)
2. Bottled Water or drinks at a restaurant (thank you tap water and reusable water bottles)
3. Car Payments (all of our cars have been given to us and we plan to buy all future cars in cash)
4. Cable or Netflix (thank you hulu and redbox)
5. Texting Joel's employer pays for his texting & I use the texting app (it saves us $240/year!)
6. Starbucks (Joel packs his own coffee when he has work meetings there)
7. Green Beans and Tomatoes (my grandparents and my mom graciously cans these for us every year from their garden)
8. Gym memberships (we both like running which is practically free)
9. Interest we have zero debt
10. Magazine Subscriptions who needs to pay for them when companies offer them for free!
11. Lunch Out We are brown baggers...or reusable lunch container packers--we try to be green!

Those are good things to save on! I try to get as much free at CVS as I can but even the extreme discounts are great. I also ONLY drink water at restaurants and we don't have gym memberships. We have a free gym at our apartment and a free walking/bike trail.
saving money is awesome!
My husband and I are also in our 20s and will be completely debt free by the end of the year, and plan on only paying cash for the rest of our lives! I noticed from your other postings that you are trying to use less chemicals in your household. Are you able to find good products at CVS? Shampoo/soap/makeup type products are one of the only things I don't use coupons on because you can't get coupons for the products without parabens/propylene glycol and other junk. I make sure to find the cheapest health store that sells the best products, and stock up when they are on sale, but definitely can't do the free thing.
congrats on soon being debt free! I'm not very good at getting free make-up, soap etc w/out chemicals! Although I am currently using organic shampoo/conditioner that I received for free from CVS last summer & occasionally you can get organic make-up very
cheap there!
