Joel has had headaches for years! I'm determined to figure out what causes them. We really thought we had it figured out last fall. We thought for sure it was Red dye found in almost all foods! I really think stress is a huge trigger for them, but if I can help prevent any headaches by the cleaning products in our home, I'm ready to do that!
My 2 favorite cleaners: vinegar & baking soda
A few changes I have been making....
- I clean my toilet bowl with baking soda and vinegar
- I mix vinegar and water together to wash my floors. I can only do this every other week because the vinegar is harsh on hardwoods, but will be purchasing an all purpose, green, floor cleaner soon!
- I will be dumping 1 cup of vinegar down our bathtub drain every week to prevent clogs. I never want to use Drain-O again. It's incredibly dangerous
- 1 cup of vinegar in laundry to brighten colors
Items I had to buy: yes, all of this is coming out of my $65 week grocery/toiletries budget
- All natural glass cleaner. ($3 target) Good bye Windex!
- All natural all purpose cleaner. It even smells like a grape fruit :) ($3 Target)
- Oxi-Clean. I hope I'll never buy bleach again! ($4)
- Trader Joe's dish soap ($3)
A few other items I'm considering
- chlorine shower head filter--$30--I'm a bit terrified at the damage chlorine is doing to us
- Floor steamer

vinegar works great as a glass cleaner, too. I use it all the time.
I totally think the shower filter is worth the money. We use Culligan. It has changed my wife's life. She's had bad allergies, eczema and other stuff for awhile. Putting the shower filter on has made a ton of difference. We're in an apt now , but if we ever get a house, we'll get a full house filter. (She can even tell the difference when she just washes her hands in the sink.)
I say go for the filter.
